Soil


This week we started a unit on soil. Tell me three facts you know about soil so far.

Parentmaterial/ bedrock has all then nutriance to make more soil. It takes 500 years to make 1" of new soil. The roots from the plants lock into the second layer of soil called subsoil.

The three layers of soil are topsoil is where you plant your seeds. The next one is subsoil.That is where your plants roots lock in. And finnaly bedrock or parent material. Bedrock or parent matierial has all the nutreuns. to make all the new soil

clay holds water.

sand has the biggest partcle.

silt cropsgrow good in it.

The biggest partecals are sand.
The littlest particles are clay.
Terrices help stop eroion.

I know that clay holds water,
but sand and silt don't hold water.
silt is for growing crops.

1.Topsoil is the hardest to replace it takes 500years.
2.Subsoilis where the roots of crops lock in.
3.Parent material has 2 names the second name is Bedrock

Three things I know about soil is that the first layer is called topsoil. The second layer is called subsoil. The last layer is called parent material or bedrock.

1.Bedrock or parent material helps the topsoil for 500 years to grow inch.
2.There are 3 layers of soil 1 topsoil 2 subsoil 3 bed rock or parent material.
3.There are 3 types of soil 1 clay 2 sand 3 slit.
4. Clay cannot hold water and good for crops.

There are three tpys of soil clay,silt,sand.There are also three layers of soil topsoil subsoil and parent materail /bed rock.So there is two names of the last one bed rock and parent materail.Those are my three facts.

There are these tips of soil.topsoil is the 1st layer it takes 500 years to grow 1 inch.Subsoi is the 2 layer thats where the roots start to sprout.Bedrock is the 3rd layer of soil thats the very bottem part thats also the hardest.
